Timothy C. Petersen, M.D. joins TPMG and opens Coastal Endocrinology in August 2016.
A native of Virginia Beach, Dr. Timothy Petersen received his undergraduate degree in biology from Virginia Tech then returned home to Coastal Virginia to obtain his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. He stayed at EVMS to complete his internship and residency in Internal Medicine as well as his fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. He is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Petersen is a member of the Endocrine Society, American Thyroid Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the American College of Physicians. Additionally, he is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and is published in peer-reviewed journals. He has a special interest in functional medicine and has additional training in thyroid and neck ultrasound.
Dr. Petersen currently volunteers as a band leader at his church, and has enjoyed serving in multiple mission trips to Central America. Dr. Petersen is married and has three children. He can be found on baseball fields around the East Coast on the weekends.
