Internal Medicine

Doctors of internal medicine have had special study and training in dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Internists take pride in caring for their patients whether in the office, during hospitalization and intensive care, and in nursing homes. They play a major role in teaching and research. When other medical specialists are involved in a patients care, internists coordinate with these specialists to manage difficult medical problems.
